Training

One of the goals of the South Carolina Human Services Providers Association is to provide training/education to our membership. SCHSPA provides multiple opportunities for their members and outside organizations to participate in exceptional training events throughout the year. Continuing Education Credits and contact hours are routinely offered for a variety of disciplines.

Annual Conference

SCHSPA hosts an annual conference each year in March offering various topics that may include federal policy updates, keynote speakers from across the country relevant to the people we support, sessions to educate attendees on emerging trends and issues impacting the service delivery system as well as
statewide initiatives and issues.

Finance Conference

Each year the SCHSPA hosts an annual finance conference/training session specifically for finance directors and staff of the membership and outside organizations related to financial considerations, SCDHHS/SCDDSN reporting requirements, finance industry changes impacting the membership, Medicaid cost reporting requirements and other financial considerations for providers.

HR Conference

SCHSPA routinely hosts a Human Resources conference/training for HR Directors and their staff to address emerging HR concerns, changes with legal/ethical considerations, federal employment adjustments, changes and challenges with workers compensation and unemployment issues and the challenges of hiring and retaining staff.

Quality Assurance

SCHSPA hosts quarterly quality assurance meetings for the membership to discuss trends in providing quality services, issues related to the state reporting requirements of Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation (ANE) and Critical Incident reporting, and issues affecting the delivery of quality services and supports to individuals and their families.

Technology Conference

In January 2023, SCHSPA sponsored the first Technology Summit for South Carolina providers that offered them an opportunity to be introduced to a variety of technology solutions to support individuals to live as independently as able. SCHSPA is working to host another technology conference in 2026.

Executive Leadership Academy

The Executive Leadership Academy (ELA) was established many years ago to provide valuable training to advancing leadership within the South Carolina provider network. It is conducted every other year and encompasses topics that include person center philosophy, working with a board of directors, leadership skills and skill building, strategic vision and planning, working with external relationships and stakeholders, effective communication to include working with your legislators and community, quality assurance processes/practices, financial management to include contracts, human resources and legal considerations, risk management and media relations before, during and after a crisis, marketing and branding, and other topics an executive would need to know.

Executive Director Workshop

Yearly the Executive Directors and key staff of the membership come together to address the priorities of the Association, develop strategies and goals for the upcoming year, determine yearly budget requirements of the Association and network through bringing in speakers on topics impacting our industry.
